Suicide Squad's failure is still affecting Rocksteady. Another wave of layoffs at the studio

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.

The studio faced significant hurdles in 2024, struggling to maintain the game's performance amidst disappointing player reception and substantial financial losses estimated at $200 million by Warner Bros. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.

These job cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced layoffs, shedding 99 employees.

The game's early access release exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major plot spoiler revealed through a glitch. Negative gameplay feedback and critical reviews from prominent gaming publications led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.

Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
