Square Enix RPG Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a short absence. The popular Square Enix title's temporary delisting, lasting several days, is now resolved, allowing players to purchase and download the game once more.

This tactical RPG, lauded for its classic gameplay reminiscent of Square Enix's earlier titles, draws comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic unit maneuvering and damage optimization have earned it considerable praise.

The reason for the delisting remains unconfirmed. However, speculation points to Square Enix's recent acquisition of the publishing rights from Nintendo. A Twitter announcement confirmed the game's return.

This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has experienced a brief eShop removal; Octopath Traveler faced a similar situation last year. However, Triangle Strategy's return was much quicker, resolving within four days compared to Octopath Traveler's several-week absence.

This positive development underscores the strong relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This collaboration has resulted in console-exclusive releases like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially) and the definitive version of Dragon Quest 11. Square Enix's history of Nintendo exclusives stretches back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES, a tradition continuing with titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive). The reappearance of Triangle Strategy is welcome news for fans of both companies.
