Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon

The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new standard for the longest Pokémon TCG card unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a star-studded team of online personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, embarked on a 24-hour marathon, opening over 20,000 Pokémon cards!

This record-breaking event celebrated the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion. The livestream, broadcast on Pokémon's official Twitch channel, showcased the opening of 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products. The impressive card count was confirmed by The Pokémon Company International's official press release.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed immense pride in this accomplishment, highlighting the collaborative effort with talented content creators. He stated, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."

The celebration doesn't end there! The Pokémon Company promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels in the coming weeks. Furthermore, the vast collection of cards amassed during the livestream will be donated to various charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holiday season.

Launched on November 8th, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the defensively formidable Archaludon ex and Metal Defender.

Fans can also discover iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. The expansion also features captivating illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, showcasing serene ocean scenes with Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add exciting new strategic options for players.
