Persona 4 Golden: Unveiling the Secrets of Magical Magus

Quick Links

Yukiko's Castle serves as the first significant dungeon in Persona 4 Golden. Despite its relatively short length (seven floors), it provides a crucial learning experience, introducing players to the game's mechanics and combat system.

While the initial floors present minimal difficulty, later levels introduce the Magical Magus, a formidable random encounter. This guide details its weaknesses and strategies for a swift victory.

Magical Magus Weaknesses and Skills in Persona 4 Golden

The Magical Magus employs several high-damage skills, primarily fire-based. Equipping fire-resistant accessories (found in golden chests within Yukiko's Castle) is highly recommended. These accessories also prove beneficial in the final boss fight.

When the Magical Magus begins charging magic, utilize the Guard command on your next turn. It frequently casts Agilao, a powerful fire spell capable of eliminating unprepared party members. Hysterical Slap, while a double-hit physical attack, poses less of a threat than Agilao. Strategically, it's advisable for Chie and Yosuke to focus on guarding, leaving the protagonist to exploit the Magical Magus's weakness.

Early-Game Persona with a Light Skill in Persona 4 Golden

Archangel is the optimal early-game Persona possessing a light skill (Hama). It also learns Media at level 12, a valuable skill for the final boss encounter. Archangel is a level 11 Persona, easily fused using:

  • Slime (Level 2)
  • Forneus (Level 6)

In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills are instant-kill attacks. Hama, targeting the Magical Magus's weakness, will almost always result in an immediate kill, making this formidable enemy surprisingly easy to defeat. Given Archangel's high level, farming Magical Magi is a viable strategy, provided you have sufficient SP recovery items or are willing to enter the boss fight with depleted SP.
