Path of Exile 2: Ritual Guide – Passives, Tributes, And Favours

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 21,2025

Path of Exile 2's Atlas endgame features four key events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, a resurrected mechanic from previous PoE Leagues, are detailed in this guide. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

PoE 2 Rituals and Altars: A Breakdown

On the Atlas, map nodes guaranteeing endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altars are indicated by a red pentagram with a demonic face. Use a Ritual Precursor Tablet in a completed Lost Tower to guarantee Ritual encounters on selected nodes.

Maps with Ritual encounters feature several Altars. Each map has a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms or life-draining pools of blood.

Examine an Altar's modifiers before interacting. Activating an Altar unleashes a large enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; leaving it ends the event and forfeits rewards. A map is considered complete once all Rituals are successfully finished.

Ritual Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists

The reward screen may offer "An Audience With The King," a currency item granting access to The Crux Of Nothingness, the King in the Mists' lair. Place this item in your Atlas Realmgate to initiate the fight.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at event-exclusive Uniques, powerful Currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section (bottom right, red coloration). This tree modifies Ritual events, reducing Tribute costs, improving rewards, and boosting Unique Currency drop rates.

Each King in the Mists defeat grants 2 skill points, necessitating increased boss difficulty for each new Notable node.

Notable Ritual Passive Node Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion 25% increased Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute and faster Favour appearance for Deferring Favours N/A
From The Mists 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness and deal 10% more damage, but no longer penalize Tribute. From The Mists
Spreading Darkness Always 4 Ritual Altars per map N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute earned) Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents 25% faster monster waves, 50% increased chance for Omens in Favours N/A
He Approaches 20% chance for revived monsters to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance for "An Audience With The King" Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolling N/A

Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for increased rewards. Then, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for better Omen and "King" chances.

PoE 2 Ritual Event Rewards

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed mean more Tribute and more Favour options, including high-tier Currencies and Rare gear. "An Audience With The King" is a Favour reward.

Favours initially offer Magic items and low-level Currencies, but progress unlocks Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. Omens, powerful items enhancing other Currency effects, are also possible rewards.

Enemies dropped during Rituals can also yield high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Uniques.
