Days of Our Lives Name-Drops Mid-Tier Nintendo RPG

The current 61st season of Days of Our Lives gave a surprising nod to one of Nintendo's more niche franchises, catching fans off guard.

A recent episode of the long-running soap opera featured Salem University student Aaron chatting up his classmate Arianna outside his dorm. Searching for a reason to invite her inside, Aaron confidently suggests she might like to wait in his room and "play Xenoblade on my Switch." Personally, I would have suggested Mario Kart, but to each their own.

To Aaron’s genuine astonishment—and, let’s be honest, everyone watching at home—Arianna actually accepts his offer. She gives an awkward laugh and steps inside, looking as though she truly had nothing better to do. Aaron, sweet soul, appears genuinely shocked that his idea worked—and rightly so.

The moment quickly made its way online after Nintendeal shared a clip on social media, where Nintendo fans cheered the unexpected Xenoblade mention. (To everyone hoping for a new game reveal in last week's Nintendo Direct, we hope you're coping alright.)

Developed by Monolith Soft, the Xenoblade Chronicles series debuted in 2010 on the Wii, spawning multiple sequels and re-releases over the years. The latest entry, an enhanced port of the Wii U side-story Xenoblade Chronicles X, arrived on the Switch in March—just as most fans were eagerly awaiting news of a Switch 2.

"This series has run for 61 seasons, and I had never watched a moment until someone mentioned Xenoblade," said Zhenghua Yang, founder of To the Moon developer Serenity Forge, after seeing the clip. "Now that’s top-tier marketing."

"I know nothing about this show, but Aaron is absolutely my favorite character now—no doubt about it," added another fan, AmiibroN.

Days of Our Lives first aired in 1965 and is still going strong, now streaming on Peacock. If you've seen the full episode, let us know what happened next.
