Mortal Kombat: Onslaught Shutdown Shocks Industry

Warner Bros. Games is shutting down its mobile title, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, less than a year after its launch. The game was removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on July 22nd, 2024. In-app purchases will be disabled on August 23rd, 2024, with servers officially going offline on October 21st, 2024.

The reasons behind the shutdown remain undisclosed, but the recent closure of NetherRealm's mobile games division—responsible for Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice—suggests a potential shift in the company's mobile gaming strategy.

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have yet to provide details regarding refunds for in-game purchases. They've promised further information soon, so players are advised to monitor their official X (formerly Twitter) account for updates.
