Minetris Rolls Out Major Mobile Tetris Update

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 14,2026

We’ve all played Tetris, the iconic puzzle game where you arrange falling blocks into neat lines that vanish. Most of us have tried it at least once.

The series has seen many mainline entries, along with hundreds of spin-off titles.

So, when another game comes along using the core Tetris mechanics, it’s natural to be skeptical. But Minetris is a premium mobile experience that adapts the classic formula in a unique way.

How is it Different?

Minetris isn’t just about chasing high scores. Instead, it uses block-breaking gameplay to take you on an adventure—specifically, deep into the tombs of a pyramid.

As developer Carlo Barbarino puts it, “The objective isn't simply to break blocks, but to reveal the pyramid’s hidden secrets. There’s a story: the Pharaoh of Light is trapped by a curse and must be freed. With each play session, the Pharaoh regains life, and the ancient pyramid transforms back to its former vibrant glory.”

In short, this isn’t a basic Tetris clone you'll forget after a few minutes. It’s a version you'll want to revisit day after day, eager to uncover new mysteries and sights.

Dynamic Puzzle Experience

That all sounds great, but it wouldn’t matter if the gameplay didn’t feel right. We’ve all played versions of Tetris—or other major puzzle games—where controls felt off, or an odd twist ruined the fun.

Fortunately, that’s not the case with Minetris. Barbarino says he “always enjoyed classic Tetris but felt let down by its static visuals and lack of story. I often saw reimagined versions featuring explosive, dramatic block effects—only to find they weren’t part of the actual gameplay. So I decided to build my own version where those dynamic elements are real.”

What does that mean? When you clear lines, blocks really explode. You feel the impact—and it’s simply fantastic.

Combine that with atmospheric music and a dynamic camera that pulls you deeper into the pyramid, and you get one of the most engaging and intriguing Tetris variations we’ve ever played.

Any Tips for Players?

After spending some time with Minetris and talking to Barbarino, we’ve put together a few tips for newcomers.

First, try to keep the mined area as clear as possible. This space is essential for quickly breaking down the wall.

Also, take advantage of the two-block preview. Knowing what’s coming so far in advance—especially early on—can give you a strategic edge.

Then there’s the Cascade Gravity feature, where split blocks continue to fall. Plan ahead and anticipate which block parts may drop when a line clears.

What Else Should I Know?

Glad you asked! This isn’t a game the developer will abandon after a few weeks. Barbarino is committed to regularly updating and fine-tuning Minetris. Recent patches have enhanced the UI, added content, and more.

Better yet, Minetris is a premium experience on Android and iOS. For just $0.99, you get the full game—no ads, so you can fully immerse yourself in its mysterious world. There’s also a free lite version on Android if you’d like to try it first.
