Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision

Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the reversal in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative feedback generated by Dev Talk 10's announcement of a four-division reset every 45 days.

The initial plan, met with considerable criticism, would have significantly hampered players' progress. The revised plan confirms that no mid-season rank reset will occur. Players will maintain their current rankings from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset, dropping players six divisions, remains in effect.

Despite this change, other planned updates proceed as scheduled. The addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track. NetEase Games continues to uphold its commitment to releasing two new playable characters per three-month season.

Reward structures for high-ranking players also remain. Gold rank and above players will still receive the Invisible Woman costume, with Grandmaster and above receiving Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including another free costume, will be awarded at the end of the season for Gold rank and above, with Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above. While balance adjustments were previously announced, specifics are yet to be revealed.
