Mario Party Franchise Celebrates Milestone Sale Figure

Super Mario Party Jamboree Reigns Supreme in Japan's Nintendo Sales Charts

Super Mario Party Jamboree secured the top spot as the best-selling Nintendo title in Japan for the week of December 30th, 2024, to January 5th, 2025, continuing its impressive critical and commercial success both domestically and internationally.

Since its October 2024 launch, this family-friendly multiplayer game has consistently performed well, surpassing numerous major releases to claim the number one position in Japanese Nintendo game sales. Jamboree's success is attributed to its innovative features, including new game boards, modes, and playable characters, while retaining the classic Mario Party gameplay with engaging new mechanics that appeal to both seasoned and new players. The game's extensive character roster and inclusion of multiplayer modes supporting up to 20 players have also garnered significant praise. This follows its earlier triumph in October 2024, topping US sales charts.

Japanese gaming publication Famitsu reported Jamboree's leading position, revealing sales figures exceeding one million units (1,071,568 total units sold in Japan as of January 5th, 2025), with 117,307 units sold during the aforementioned week. This impressive performance outshone other major releases such as Mario & Luigi: Brothership and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and even surpassed the weekly sales of several all-time best-selling Nintendo Switch titles including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Its continued success will be closely watched, particularly in light of anticipated announcements regarding a potential Nintendo Switch successor.

The enduring popularity of the Mario Party franchise is evident, with classic titles like the original Mario Party and Mario Party 2 enjoying renewed success through Nintendo Switch Online releases.
