Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation

Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fan speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance and subsequent confirmation for a new Star Wars film.

Isaac's past comments regarding a Star Wars return have been varied. Initially expressing reluctance, he later stated openness to the possibility. He previously joked about only returning if he needed "another house," but later told Variety he had "no real feeling one way or another," leaving the door open for future projects.

Adding fuel to the fire, Isaac has been vocal about his disappointment with Disney's rejection of his proposed romance between Poe and Finn (John Boyega's character). Boyega himself has also expressed mixed feelings about his Sequel Trilogy experience but remains open to future roles.

The speculation centers around the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already expressed her hope for Boyega's involvement, and the inclusion of Poe, the final member of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio, seems a logical progression.

While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer clues, fans face a longer wait for definitive answers. Disney's repeated delays of numerous announced Star Wars films have pushed the earliest possible release date for the Rey film (directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy) to December 17, 2027.
