"Infinity Nikki Players Protest Update 1.5 Changes, Threaten Uninstall"

Author:Kristen Update:May 03,2025

The highly anticipated release of Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update on Steam has been overshadowed by a series of controversies that have left the community in uproar. After months of exclusivity on the Epic Game Store, Infold Games' stylish dress-up adventure finally made its way to Valve's digital platform, but the excitement was quickly dampened by a host of technical issues, unexpected design changes, and demanding new outfit requirements. In response, the developers have issued an apology and promised compensation, yet the battle for Infinity Nikki is far from resolved.

Players eager to dive into the Steam version of Infinity Nikki were met with frustration as the game suffered from crashes and instability, preventing many from even launching it. While technical issues at launch are not uncommon, the community's dissatisfaction extended beyond performance problems. The introduction of two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each comprising 11 pieces, has raised concerns about the increased effort and cost required to complete these sets. Typically requiring up to 220 pulls, these outfits represent a significant departure from the norm without prior notice, sparking fears that future outfits might demand even more from players.

Adding to the confusion, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks, a move that caught many off guard. As technical issues persisted and monetization strategies became more demanding, the Chinese player base took to the social media platform RedNote to voice their concerns. This quickly escalated into a global movement, with players across the world calling for a boycott of Infinity Nikki on Steam, urging others to leave negative reviews and uninstall the game on all platforms.

In response to the growing discontent, Reddit user kiaxxl posted a call-to-action, suggesting that withholding pulls for a few days could demonstrate the community's desire for the game to remain enjoyable and fair. "What I am reminding people of is a decent amount of Chinese IN stylists pledging to not spend/pull on the banners to send a message to the digital income trackers for the game," they explained. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players."

The community's efforts have not gone unnoticed, as reflected in the game's current "Mixed" rating on Steam, accompanied by numerous negative reviews warning potential players to steer clear until their demands are met. The pressure from the boycott led Infold to release an apology letter across its official channels, acknowledging the technical issues and promising improvements in communication regarding future changes.

Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

In the apology, Infold committed to reverting Mira Crown to end on May 16 and starting the next season on the same day, while also offering compensation in the form of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While this move has been seen as a step in the right direction, it falls short of the comprehensive changes many players were seeking.

The response to Infold's concessions has been mixed. Some view it as a victory, while others are still concerned about the decision to maintain the 11-piece outfit requirement for new five-star outfits. Despite promises of better communication, the fear remains that future updates will continue to demand even more from players.

I wish you would finally chance the drop rate.. it cant be that i need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!

Despite the ongoing concerns, the community has celebrated the quick response to their demands, even if it's not the complete solution they hoped for. Boycotters are now urging the community to keep the pressure on, with Reddit user EdensAsmr warning, "Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will **be** 11 pieces. Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will **not** cut it."
