Disneyland Paris reveals Lion King ride details, construction starts soon

Disneyland Paris reveals fresh updates on its highly anticipated Lion King attraction, announcing construction will commence in Fall 2025.

According to Disney Parks Blog, this inaugural Lion King-themed land will become a centerpiece of the transformed Walt Disney Studios Park (rebranded as Disney Adventure World). Anchored by a spectacular water ride recreating iconic moments from the 1994 animated classic, the new area will feature a towering 120-foot Pride Rock replica alongside themed dining, retail experiences, and character interactions.

A newly released concept image previews the attraction's impressive animatronic figures - showcasing young Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa enjoying grub snacks in a lush jungle environment. The ride promises thrilling moments including a record-breaking 52-foot descent (slightly taller than Tiana's Bayou Adventure).

While an exact opening date remains unconfirmed, the attraction will debut after 2026's World of Frozen launch. This expansion represents just one element of the ambitious Disney Adventure World project, which will double the park's current size.

The Lion Kingdom experience joins previously announced additions like the Tangled-inspired spinning attraction (featuring Mandy Moore's return as Rapunzel) and Disney's first Up-themed ride - described as a rotating carousel offering aerial park views.

Another highlight arrives May 15, 2025 with "World Premiere" - a dazzling new entrance portal evoking Hollywood red carpet premieres. The adjacent World Premiere Plaza (inspired by Broadway and London's West End) will host theatrical productions including TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure and Frozen: A Musical Invitation.
