Healing in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offers several ways to replenish health:

  • Consuming food and drink
  • Using Marigold Decoction potions
  • Sleeping

While seemingly simple, the effectiveness of each method depends on various factors, as detailed below.

Eating Food and Drinking Alcohol

Eating food or drinking alcohol gradually restores health. However, be mindful of your Nourishment level. If it's already at 100%, consuming more food will inflict the Overfed debuff, reducing your maximum stamina. When full, you can't consume any food at all, leaving you vulnerable with low health unless you have alternative healing options.

Alcohol can also heal, but comes with the Drunk debuff. While this might seem negative, certain perks can actually turn this to your advantage.

Using a Potion

As in the first game, brewing and drinking a Marigold Decoction potion provides a direct health boost. Remember to gather the necessary ingredients and keep a supply on hand.

Sleeping

Resting and sleeping restores health. However, sleeping anywhere isn't always possible. Sleeping in a stranger's bed might be reported as a crime unless you can talk your way out of it. While campsites and hay beds offer some rest, a proper bed at an inn provides the best recovery.

Early in the game, consider utilizing beds offered through jobs, such as those available from the miller or blacksmith during the main questline.

Using Bandages for Bleeding

Significant slashing damage can lead to the Bleeding debuff, draining health and hindering combat. Apply a Bandage from your inventory to stop the bleeding and remove this debilitating effect.
