Author:Kristen Update:May 13,2025

Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is thrilling, but to fully equip yourself with the best armor, you'll need to master the art of trapping them to gather every essential monster part. This requires Trap Tools, which are crucial for your hunting endeavors. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to obtain and utilize Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Where to Get Trap Tools in Monster Hunter Wilds

While *Monster Hunter Wilds* doesn't explicitly guide you on trapping or acquiring Trap Tools, if you're familiar with previous games in the series, the process should feel intuitive.

Monster Hunter Wilds Trap Tools Guide

You can acquire Trap Tools by visiting the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Engage with him, and browse his inventory until you find the Trap Tools, available for 200 Zenny each. It’s advisable to stock up on these tools, particularly if you're aiming to farm specific monsters or capture a variety of them throughout the game.

Note that Trap Tools are exclusively purchased at Base Camp and cannot be scavenged in the wild like other resources.

How to Use Trap Tools

With your Trap Tools in hand, it's time to employ them effectively. You can combine them with a Net (made from Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to fashion a Shock Trap.

Both types of traps are effective, but be mindful that some monsters have resistances. For example, Shock Traps are ineffective against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon, making Pitfall Traps the better choice in such cases.

Remember, you can only carry one Trap item at a time, so deploy them strategically when the monster is weakened for maximum effectiveness.

This guide covers everything you need to know about obtaining and using Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, don't forget to check out The Escapist.
