Genshin Reruns Popular Banner in 5.4 Update

Genshin Impact's Wriothesley Rumored for Version 5.4 Rerun After Year-Long Wait

A recent leak suggests Wriothesley will finally return to Genshin Impact's Event Banners in Version 5.4, marking over a year since his initial appearance in Version 4.1. This extended absence highlights the game's ongoing challenge in balancing the large roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited rerun slots available. With a projected average of one new 5-star character per patch, the demand for reruns far surpasses the supply, even considering the introduction of the Chronicled Banner.

While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, its effectiveness remains debated. Shenhe's lengthy wait (over 600 days) before her rerun demonstrates the system's limitations. Until the implementation of triple banners, extended wait times for character reruns are likely to persist.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst, represents a prime example of this scheduling bottleneck. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and Burnmelt team synergy make him a desirable character, yet players haven't had a chance to obtain him since November 8, 2023. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, suggests his return in Version 5.4. However, it's crucial to approach this information cautiously, as Flying Flame's past leak accuracy has been inconsistent.

Despite this uncertainty, the recent Spiral Abyss buffs in Genshin Impact do favorably impact Wriothesley's gameplay, lending some credence to the rumor. Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured on the Event Banners, the remaining slot(s) may include either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's launch is currently projected for February 12, 2025.
