Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Heaven?

At Droid Gamers, we receive a variety of gadgets, but a projector was a new addition to our lineup. The Formovie Episode One caught our attention due to its potential to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, making it an exciting piece of technology to review.

Positioned as a budget-friendly option, the Episode One delivers on its promise. Despite some minor drawbacks, it offers great value. In the package, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it may not have the robust feel of higher-end models, its weight of three pounds ensures excellent portability, perfect for on-the-go use.

The projector features limited ports, with one USB-A, one HDMI, and a single audio jack. Given its price point, this setup should suffice for most users' needs.

Performance-wise, the Episode One performs admirably for its cost. With 150 ISO lumens, it's not the brightest, but it holds its own in darker environments. Our tests showed it struggled in direct sunlight but delivered clear visuals for movies, TV shows, and streamed games in the dark. For optimal viewing, we recommend positioning the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen. The sound output, however, is somewhat tinny, suggesting the use of an external speaker for a better audio experience.

The user interface is straightforward and user-friendly, making it easier to navigate than many pricier models. This simplicity is a major advantage, especially for those new to projectors.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single area, but it's a dependable all-rounder that should meet the needs of most casual users.
