Dune: Awakening Delayed Three Weeks for Beta-Driven Improvements

Author:Kristen Update:May 05,2025

The highly anticipated open-world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been postponed to June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, announced this delay while offering eager fans an early access opportunity. Those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition can dive into the game as early as June 5, 2025.

Funcom shared this update via a tweet on April 15, 2025, stating that the decision to delay the game came after valuable feedback from their ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. They noted that the extra time would allow the team to "cook" the game a bit more and implement requested changes from the beta phase.

Moreover, the delay will facilitate a "large-scale beta weekend next month," giving even more players a chance to experience Dune: Awakening and provide their feedback. While some fans may be disappointed by the delay, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT, promising insights into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills.

IGN has been closely following Dune: Awakening and expressed excitement in our hands-on preview, stating, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."
