Crytek Announces Restructuring and Layoffs

Crytek has confirmed a company restructuring resulting in the layoff of approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce. This follows financial difficulties experienced by the company.

Simultaneously, Crytek announced a temporary halt to development of the next Crysis game, a decision made in Q3 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896. While exploring options to reassign staff to existing projects proved infeasible, despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future plans prioritize expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content, while the new Crysis title's release is indefinitely postponed. The company assures affected employees will receive severance and career support. Despite these challenges, Crytek remains positive about its long-term prospects, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
