Company of Heroes Dev Relic Teases Earth vs. Mars Match-up

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 21,2025

Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this summer on PC via Steam, puts players in a fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion.

The core gameplay involves creating unique creature-human hybrids using the Splice-O-Tron, resulting in unusual units like the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly. Inspired by the classic Advance Wars, players will command Earth's forces against advanced Martian weaponry, including saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien soldiers. Relic describes the Martian invasion as a response to decades of secret human and animal abductions for their "atomic essence."

Earth vs. Mars offers a robust single-player campaign with over 30 missions, online multiplayer with both factions playable, a VS Mode for AI challenges, and a map editor.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, blending our signature style with elements from our earlier games." This project reflects Relic's new strategy of developing smaller, indie-style games alongside their traditional RTS titles to foster creativity and increase release frequency.
