Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster

Available June 5

Priced at $39.99, you can find it at:

  • Best Buy - $39.99
  • GameStop - $39.99
  • Target - Not yet available
  • Walmart - Not yet available

The surprisingly affordable price can be attributed to the fact that the physical version is a "game-key card" rather than a traditional game disc. Let's delve into what that means.

Note: This is a Game-Key Card

With the Nintendo Switch 2, some games are released on cards that hold the complete game data, while others, like Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, are game-key cards. These cards resemble Switch 2 cartridges but do not contain the actual game. Instead, you'll need to insert the card into your Switch 2 and download the 11GB game from the eShop. Despite this, you can still share the card with friends or sell it, but remember, to play the game, the card must be inserted into the Switch 2.

What is Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster?

Play

Originally launched on the 3DS, Bravely Default was a throwback JRPG with turn-based combat and a narrative centered around a group of heroes on a quest to find four crystals. The game's standout feature is its innovative combat system, which allows players to save turns and execute multiple actions in one go. Additionally, it boasts a comprehensive job system, enabling players to assign various abilities to party members.

The HD remaster retains all these beloved elements and introduces several new features. You can now fast forward through battles and cut scenes, adjust the encounter rate to your preference, and enjoy an online mode along with new minigames.
