Battledom is an upcoming strategy game now in Alpha testing

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 05,2025

Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming real-time strategy (RTS-lite) game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This new title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles Frenken's original vision for Herodom.

Battledom introduces dynamic RTS battle mechanics, granting players freedom to maneuver units across the game map. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic depth is further enhanced through the use of various battle formations.

Players utilize in-game currency to recruit units, initially equipped with only basic weaponry and no armor. A key element of the gameplay involves customizing units by equipping them with crafted weapons and armor. Each item significantly impacts unit statistics, including attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.

Quarry with stones in buckets and an elevator lifting a bucket of stoneResource gathering and crafting are central to the game. Players collect resources like wood, leather, and coal within their village to craft items at various workshops, such as the blacksmith or magician's shop.

Frenken's previous success with Herodom, which boasts a 4.6 App Store rating, showcases his expertise in the genre. Herodom features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new character customization options, crops, and farm animals.

iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For the latest news and updates, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. Additional games by Frenken are available on the App Store.
