Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Author:Kristen Update:May 17,2025

Earlier this year, Dell revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 line of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, these systems were only available with the RTX 5080 graphics card. However, that's changed. Now, you can configure your Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at $5,499.99. What's more, you won't have to wait long for delivery; Dell is estimating an early April ship date.

The base configuration for an Alienware Area-51 gaming PC with an RTX 5090 GPU might come in at $5,500, but at this price point, you can expect impressive specs—and this model certainly delivers. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, provides exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't offer the performance leap we hoped for compared to the i9-14900K, it's currently the best Intel has to offer. The system is cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a hefty 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the revamped Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The new chassis retains similarities with the 2024 R16 model but features updated aesthetics, cooling designs, and components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass window extends across the entire side panel. This design change eliminates side panel vents, with air intakes now located at the bottom and front of the case. Alienware has adopted a positive airflow design, promoting a cleaner interior. The system's internal components have been upgraded, including a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

----------------------------------------------------

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU available. While Nvidia has focused on software enhancements, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gameplay performance, the RTX 5090 still offers a significant 25%-30% increase in raw hardware-based raster performance over the RTX 4090. Additionally, it comes with more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is hard to find at its retail price and is often listed for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, though the generational leap is less pronounced than in previous releases. For traditional non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090's performance increase is modest. However, in games that support DLSS 4, the technology delivers substantial performance gains, albeit with 75% of the frames being AI-generated."
