Alan Wake 2 Tops 2 million Sales and Finally Starts Turning a Profit

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 18,2025

Alan Wake 2 surpasses 2 million global sales, exceeding initial projections. This figure significantly surpasses the 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period in which Remedy Entertainment celebrated the title as its fastest-selling game to date.

Remedy's recent financial report to shareholders highlights this achievement, attributing the success to the game's strong performance and the subsequent release of the Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. This milestone has enabled the game to begin generating royalties after covering development and marketing expenses.

The studio also offered updates on upcoming projects: Control 2, a collaboration with Annapurna Interactive, is nearing completion of its pre-production phase and will enter full production by late February 2025. The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is also progressing steadily in full production.

Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, remains in full production following a successful closed technical test in December. This test focused on matchmaking and backend services. While a release date is yet to be announced, self-publishing by Remedy is slated for later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction and projected targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as a superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor.
