Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game

Inside, you'll find the Lifer beside a board game. The game involves connecting three pieces (black for you, white for the Lifer). Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens maze walls in that direction. You can exit and resume the game at any time, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before removing buffs; the Lifer will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs, four removable using the Stake of Imbalance. View buffs via the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs:

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2s of inactivity.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% every 20s.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per hit (stacks up to 4 times; resets after 6s without dealing damage).
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs:

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance:

Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the corresponding gates. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (white glow). One room requires defeating Tacet Discords, another breaking Friable Rocks, and one is simply on a table. Place each Stake in the module in front of its statue to remove a buff (purple lines turn yellow).

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either win the board game or select "Fight it out!"). The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Its attacks pose minimal threat.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer:

  • First victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • Third victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

You can re-enable buffs for a harder fight, but there are no achievements tied to this.

Lifer Achievements:

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's lines; it will eventually make a mistake.
