Afterglow Post-Apocalyptic MMO Enters Alpha Test

Shadow Council PTY has launched the closed alpha for Afterglow, their upcoming mobile sandbox MMORPG set in a gritty, neon-lit post-apocalyptic world. With its striking visual style, here’s everything you need to know about joining the early test.

How to join the Afterglow closed alpha testing?

The alpha is currently underway. To participate, sign up using the official playtesting access request form from Shadow Council PTY. Upon acceptance, you’ll receive the testing guide and related terms and conditions.

Developers have also set up an anonymous feedback form so you can share impressions directly. This is your chance to explore Afterglow ahead of its public release, help refine gameplay systems, and shape the final experience.

What’s the story?

Afterglow takes place 77 years after a devastating nuclear war, in the American Southwest. You play as a refugee striving to build a new existence in a world stripped of structure and comfort.

Departing from traditional MMORPGs, Afterglow offers a semi-idle approach. Jump in for quick five-minute sessions, assign tasks to your squad, and log off—your characters continue completing actions in the background.

The game allows you to interact with the Wasteland in multiple ways. Dispatch characters to scavenge abandoned villages, hunt for resources, or fend off rival factions. Combat is turn-based and unfolds on a separate tactical screen.

Visually, Afterglow merges post-apocalyptic grit with 1980s synthwave aesthetics. You’ll encounter vast deserts, rusted technology, glowing neon signs, and vintage cassette tapes—all capturing a harsh, DIY universe shaped by scarcity.
