2024 Snap Recap: How to View on Snapchat

When it comes to looking back on the year, more and more apps are stepping up to assist. If you’re eager to reminisce about your year on Snapchat, the new 2024 Snap Recap feature makes it effortless.

What Is a Snap Recap?

If you missed out on a retrospective glance at your Snapchat journey last year, it’s because Snap Recap is a brand-new addition in 2024.

Much like Spotify Wrapped or the Twitch 2024 recap, Snap Recap consolidates your accumulated data from the year and transforms it into an engaging summary tailored for your entertainment—or occasional embarrassment. Unlike other platforms that dive deep into statistics, Snap Recap avoids such breakdowns. Instead, it picks a random snap from each month of the year to highlight. Rather than overwhelming you with numbers, the 2024 Snap Recap simply offers a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

As you spend more time exploring, the 2024 Snap Recap transitions seamlessly into other Memories features, showcasing flashbacks from the same dates in prior years. This lets you revisit moments you initially captured in what was supposed to be a fleeting format.

How To View Your 2024 Snapchat Snap Recap

Your 2024 Snap Recap is automatically generated, making it incredibly simple to access. Starting from the main camera page, swipe upward just as you would when accessing the Memories feature. Be careful not to press the camera shutter or hold down, as doing so will either take a photo or start recording.

After swiping up and opening the Memories menu, you’ll notice Your 2024 Snap Recap highlighted as a vibrant video. For me, it was the very first item listed, so finding it was a breeze.

Tap on the 2024 Snap Recap icon—just avoid the little blue share button—and you'll gain access to the recap. Following a brief introductory screen, you’ll encounter the snaps Snapchat has curated for you, one for each month of 2024.

The selected photos and videos will scroll through automatically, though it may take some time. If you’re eager to skip ahead, simply tap the screen to speed things up and avoid lingering too long on those old snaps featuring Psyduck-themed Ibuprofen bottles.

You can save, edit, or share your 2024 Snap Recap just like any other Snap. Additionally, it can be added to your Stories if you wish to broadcast it to the world. Similar to regular Snaps, it remains private unless you decide to make it public.

Why Don’t I Have a Snapchat Recap?

If you haven’t received your 2024 Snap Recap yet, there are several potential explanations. As per Snapchat Support, the rollout of Snap Recaps is happening gradually. It’s possible that yours hasn’t been generated yet.

Snapchat mentions that various factors influence whether a user receives a Snap Recap. While they don’t disclose all the specifics, they provide examples like the number of saved Snaps. If you haven’t been actively using Snapchat or frequently sending photos and videos, this could explain why you haven’t seen one.

Unfortunately, if you still haven’t received a Snap Recap after allowing time for the rollout, Support confirms that you cannot request one to be created manually.
