Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong fan demand for this action-packed title. Despite initial technical hiccups and controversy, the game's sales figures speak volumes.

Developed by Dragami Games (Grasshopper Manufacture, the original developer, did not return for the remaster), Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP offers a visual upgrade and quality-of-life improvements to the classic cheerleader-vs-zombies hack-and-slash experience. The remaster launched on current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC in September 2024. Dragami Games recently announced the impressive sales milestone via a tweet.

Celebrating Success: A Look at Lollipop Chainsaw's Legacy

The game casts players as Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage amidst a school-wide undead infestation. Juliet wields a chainsaw in stylish, over-the-top combat reminiscent of Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, reportedly selling over one million copies. This initial popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (Grasshopper Manufacture) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), whose creative input shaped the game's narrative and writing.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unconfirmed, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult-classic games. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another successful remaster bringing a beloved Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
