Hnefatafl, a captivating Scandinavian board game predating chess, saw variations played across medieval Europe. This "Tafl" game pits two armies of unequal size against each other: black invaders seeking to capture the white king, and white defenders striving to protect and escape with their king.
Often dubbed the Vikings' Game, Hnefatafl evokes historical narratives, from Muscovite incursions into Sweden to Viking raids on Britain. Yet, the core remains constant: the king's pursuit.
