Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in New Video Celebrating 10M RE4 Players

Capcom has cleverly teased the upcoming Resident Evil 9 in a seemingly innocuous video celebrating the 10 million player milestone for Resident Evil 4. Released on April 25, the video features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by an infected horde wearing party hats, heading towards a church.

The video takes a playful turn with Dr. Salvador strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, accompanied by a rock song, while Leon pumps his fist in the air. Behind him, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing."

However, if you rotate the "Thank you for playing" sign, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," signifying the number 9. While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game insider Dusk Golem notes that the lower plank was added intentionally, as it's absent in earlier parts of the video.

"I know what you did here," remarked one astonished viewer, complete with a wide-eyed emoji.

PlayCapcom has officially announced that *Resident Evil 9* will be helmed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of *Resident Evil 7*. Nakanishi shared his challenges post-*Resident Evil 7*, saying, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game may be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
